We are living in a time where God is doing exciting things around the world as people are coming to know Christ in the millions! It is during these times that we are reminded that Christ is not going further away from us but closer as the day of His second coming is drawing near. We may not know the time of His arrival but we know that each day gone by is a day closer to that fateful day.

It is during the waiting that we are tested the most and in the midst of the waiting we have to know that we are not simply living our lives and doing whatever we want till Jesus comes to take us into heaven. We were given a task to go and make disciples of all nations and be faithful Christians wherever we go.

We are called to grow God’s Kingdom not by building more church buildings alone but actually building up the Church body which involves building relationships with people for the purpose of having Christ centered fellowship. Being a Christian in this world is hard and we don’t realize this but it would be hard because you are on the mission field, to which the mission field is a spiritual battleground! Think about it with me for a second and ponder upon this because we go about our days not realizing that wherever we go is a spiritual battleground for souls and if the Christians are not actively praying for and showing the love of God, then we are forfeiting our friends and our communities to Satan.

Even today, as we go about our day, the enemy is hard at work to keep things the same so that he can keep the people in slavery to sin but what if we were to finally realize that we are in war not in peacetime? What if we were to realize that we were sent to our schools and particular friends to be the light and to share the good news of the Gospel? What if we are forfeiting the daily battles for souls because we fail to even show up to the battle as we are preoccupied with our own lives?

The battle to expand God’s kingdom and be His disciple is hard and we may even be discouraged by it because we may not see the results right away but let it be known that  the Christian walk is not a ten second sprint but a lifelong marathon! As Zerubbabel and Zechariah were in the time of building the temple of God back from the ruins, God is encouraging them that it will never be about how powerful or smart they are but that the success of their task is based upon their ability to trust in God to provide the grace for success.

There are thousands of souls out there that need to be revived by the power of the Holy Spirit and God wants to use you as a channel for that power to flow from. Some of us have tried and got discouraged. Some of us have not even tried for fear of being unpopular. But whether you have started or stopped the truth remains the same, to be a follower of God that is actively doing the work of God will always require the grace of God to carry it out! Today, whether you have to start being a Christian or continue to be a Christian, may you never stop seeking His presence through prayer, devotions, and gathering as the believer of Christ!

  • God chooses people to build up His people

    • In the passage there is an explanation of what the two olive trees that were on the side of the lamps were. The middle lamps represented the eyes of God that are constantly looking upon the earth and that the olive trees were the two anointed ones. In this particular story we see that they represent Zerubbabel and Joshua who were chosen to rebuild the temple and bring the people of God together.

    • God is constantly seeking people to do His will upon the earth and God will always carry out His will but will you be a part of it today? Sometimes we fail to see God move because we refuse to be the hand of God to carry out the move. Can you say yes to being a Christian today and praying unto the LORD that His will be done through you?

  • Impossible situations will always yield to God who makes things possible

    • This is not simply for your wishes and dreams to occur only! But to be Christian is tough! In the passage today, God says that the mountain before Zerubbabel will become a flat plain. Mountains in the Bible represent huge obstacles but when those who choose to follow God actually do it, God will flatten the obstacles that we feared so much! What are some of the obstacles in your life? In what ways can you let these words encourage you to trust in God’s promise and power to overcome the mountains?

    • One way to apply the promise is to rehearse the promise in our prayers and acting upon our daily lives with the intention of glorifying Him. Pray out daily verses six to seven in today’s passage till you see His grace come alive before your eyes. A lot of times, we give up right before the promise is about to happen and I wonder how many times we gave up seeing God because we gave up on Him?
